New Djurgardens signing, and Buy RS Gold Sweden U-21 midfielder Kevin Walker is talking about working with one of his idols. Which managerial hero, or playing legend could it be?
“I get a tap on the shoulder and there’s Robbie Williams!” Walker said. “He goes: ‘you didn’t tell me you played football!’ I was totally in shock that he’d come up to me and talk to me out of the blue. That just made my night, he was brilliant for me. He was a true inspiration.”
Walker was telling FIFA.com about his surreal experience with the pop icon on the Swedish version of popular music reality show Idol, which he won in December 2013, landing him a recording contract. He talks with gleaming positivity of the year he has had since his victory on the show last year.
“It’s been a hell of a ride for me and the experience of a lifetime to be involved in the Swedish Pop Idol,” Walker said. “I’m really privileged to have been a part of it and to have gotten a new career, combining the two. I have to be smart and use my time wisely. It’s probably been the best footballing year in my career. I’m looking forward to these next three years with Djurgardens.”
The midfielder’s rise to prominence off the pitch has been mirrored by his ascent on it. Following his performance on Idol, he captained GIF Sundsvall to promotion from Sweden’s second tier. He will be playing against them next season though, after signing for Djurgardens, “a bigger club, with bigger matches”, Walker says. He revealed his contract negotiations with the Blåränderna were slightly Buy RuneScape gold to the average new signing, due to his musical commitments.
